Real Madrid 2018-2019 Third Shirt | Modric #10
The 2018-2019 season for Real Madrid was marked by a significant transition and a notable decline in their dominance on the European stage. Following the departure of Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo, the team faced challenges in adapting to new leadership and filling the void left by their star player.
Under the management of Julen Lopetegui and later Santiago Solari, Real Madrid struggled to maintain their usual level of performance in La Liga, falling behind arch-rivals Barcelona in the title race. They finished third in the league, securing a champions league ticket.
In the UEFA Champions League, which had been Real Madrid’s stronghold in recent years, the team’s reign came to an abrupt end. They were knocked out in the round of 16 by a very strong Ajax squad.
Despite winning the FIFA Club World Cup earlier in the season, the overall campaign was viewed as disappointing for Real Madrid as they now sought to rebuild and reclaim their former glory.
